In the beginning, there was a Happy Hour – two friends meeting to talk shop. She was expressing some frustration with her current downtown location, and I was considering some changes as well. I suggested, half joking, that we should find a little commercially-zoned house somewhere in central Beaverton, and just lease the whole thing for ourselves. Then we could have our own clean restrooms, nobody would heat cup o’ noodles in the microwave and stink the place up, and it would be fun to collaborate. Next thing I knew, we were looking at rental listings. I didn’t really take it that seriously, for me it was happy hour entertainment.
What I wasn’t fully aware of at that time, was Tamara was also looking for somewhere to call “home” on a more permanent basis. The next time we chatted, she had focused on a small commercial building for sale in the “dream zone,” a little pocket of downtown Beaverton that is easy to get to, and seeing some revitalization.
She got serious. I was still paused on “fun little happy hour entertainment.”
Soon, she was the proud owner of a new building that looked nothing like a spa. Yet.
But Tamara has vision, and in her mind, she could see this little office building, transformed into a clean, peaceful location for her skin care practice. She also had mapped a place in her design for me, (or somebody like me,) and eventually she made a proposal, which I accepted. This was going to be my new massage therapy location.
